Have you ever wanted to take a ’snapshot’ of something on your computer screen but didn’t know how?
Many people search the internet looking for specialized tools to accomplish this.
But if you’re like us, you’re cheap and don’t like to spend money on things you really don’t need.
So, here’s how to ’screen capture’ anything for free!
All Windows machines come with a basic handy little graphics program called Paint. It’s located in the accessories folder (Programs/Accessories).
To screen capture anything follow these instructions:
With the item displayed on your screen press the Print Screen key (usually located at the top right of your keyboard). You have just placed an image of what is on your screen into a buffer (save area).
Now, start the Paint application. When it starts, Press and hold the ‘Shift’ key and press the ‘Ins’ (Insert) key. Voila! your image should now be displayed in paint. You can save it, print it, email it whatever.
Oh, by the way… If you’ve read the previous posts such as the Cut/Copy and Paste, you may remember the keyboard short cut ‘Ctrl v’ (Insert). We told you they were handy!!!
