ALT and Title tags

If you place photos on your website always make sure they have text in both the ALT and TITLE attributes.

These attributes should be descriptive.

Don’t know what an ALT and TITLE attribute is?

When you place an image on a webpage it is done by using a tag known as the <IMG> tag. Within this tag are additional attributes, 2 of which are ALT and TITLE.

This mumbo jumbo is all part of the language that your website is written in called HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language).

It can get very complicated, but you don’t need to be an expert to use many of these tags.

Here is a link to a description of these tags:

If it all looks confusing to you, don’t worry about all the rest of the mumbo jumbo on that page. You are only concerned with the ALT and TITLE attributes of this tag.
